SVES Events 1980s
1980s SVES event documentation includes video, audio, photography, documents and publications. Videotape remained expensive. Two events- were formally documented on 3/4″ U-matic video during this decade: Luminous Sites and Feature Length Video. Both received grants that made this possible. The ubiquitous audio cassette remained popular and audio recordings were a more practical and expensive form of documentation for both organizations and for audience members who’d record personal copies from their seats. Unfortunately, our 1980s events, like the 1970s, were under-documented.
