About
Chambermaids to Whistle Punks features media produced or collected by The Women’s Labour History Project (founded by Sara Diamond) and Amelia Productions about the experiences of women in the workplace and the trade union movement between 1900 and 1970.
These stories are about women’s experiences in the workforce, trade unions and labour activist movements in British Columbia . Many were new immigrants or first generation settlers. They describe their early years, what led them to become involved with labour, feminist, anti-poverty, Communist, and other related movements, and the details of the lives as working women. Also included are interviews with labour activists by Jean Sheils.
