Bread and Roses

Vancouver 1980-1981

Following her resignation from the Revolutionary Workers League, Diamond became involved with two feminist collectives: Lesbians Against the Right and Bread and Roses. Bread and Roses Vancouver was one of many groups before and after who took their name from American socialist, feminist, and labour activist Rose Schneiderman’s famous speech line, “The woman worker needs bread, but she needs roses too.”
