Gayblevision’s ‘Robin Tyler Special’ (the first in a series of specials) combines interview footage recorded during her visit to Vancouver in 1981 (Interviewer: Lori Albert) and excerpts from her television comedy special ‘Robin Tyler at the Coconut Grove’. Robin shares her personal history and experience of coming out in Winnipeg in the 1970s and discusses why coming out is critical to achieving full LGBT rights.

The documentary concludes with photographs and recordings from the first Canadian Lesbian Pride March, May 16, 1981 and statement by activist Sylva Tenenbein, Regional reporter for Vancouver, made at the ’81 Lesbian Conference.

(Producer: Philip Bailie. Co-ordinated by Stephanie McVie. Interview segments director: Kurtus Callaghan. Lesbian Conference ’81 director: Wendy Trachtenberg. Edited by Colleen French; Suzan Kreiger. Crew: Ann Creama; Donna Hager; Lori Kelly; Shelly Robinson.)
